The Chargé d’Affairés, a.i.

Mr. Patrick A. Chuasoto, a career Philippine diplomat, assumed as Chargé d’Affairés, a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Washington D.C. on 30 June 2016.

Prior to his current posting in Washington D.C., Mr. Chuasoto served as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2014.

Mr. Chuasoto was previously assigned to the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations in New York where he held several positions in various United Nations bodies.

Mr. Chuasoto was Alternate Representative to the United Nations Security Council during the Philippines’ membership in 2004-2005. In 2008, he was elected as Chairman of the Committee on Conferences. He is the first and only Filipino diplomat to hold the post. Mr. Chuasoto was elected Rapporteur of the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budget) for the 63rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (2008-2009). He is only the fourth Filipino diplomat to have the distinction of being elected to serve in this powerful committee.1

Mr. Chuasoto was conferred the Gawad Mabini Award with the Rank of Commander during the 115th DFA Foundation Day celebration on 31 July 2013.

Mr. Chuasoto is also an avid sportsman and indulges in shooting (pistol, shotgun), archery, cycling, golf, table tennis, bowling, fencing and basketball. He was a member of the Philippine Shooting Team to the 1993 World Cup held in Seoul, Republic of Korea and the 1994 Southeast Asia Shooting Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Chuasoto also sits as a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine National Shooting Association, the governing body for the shooting sport in the Philippines. He was elected to the Board as the representative of the pistol aggrupation.

He graduated cum laude from the Ateneo De Manila University with a Bachelor of Science degree Major in Management, Honors Program. He has a Diploma in Trade and Commercial Diplomacy from the Foreign Service Institute and masteral units in International Studies from the University of the Philippines. Mr. Chuasoto also completed the Strategic Management and Leadership Program for Career Ministers conducted by Asian Institute of Management.

Mr. Chuasoto is a member of American MENSA.
