10/03/2015: Embassy Opens Accreditation of Notaries Public

The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. invites notaries public in its consular jurisdiction (Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia) to accredit themselves with the Embassy.  For the authentication of documents, the Embassy requires notarized documents to be authenticated by Secretaries of State prior to authentication by a Philippine consular official.  The accreditation of notaries public removes one step in the process.

“Such accreditation would benefit those who need to present notarized documents for use in the Philippines, as they would not have to go through subsequent authentication by respective State Secretaries prior to the Embassy’s legalization of the document.  It saves them time and resources,” said Ambassador Jose Cuisia.  “This development forms part of the Embassy’s bid to continually find ways to streamline consular requirements,” he added.
