Embassy Awards Certificate of Recognition to Filipino-American Artist Sotero Nieves

As part of the celebration
of the 110th anniversary of the Philippine Independence and of the
commemoration of the 100th foundation day of the University of the
Philippines, the Embassy hosted the painting exhibit of Filipino
American artist, Sotero V. Nieves, at the Embassy’s Romulo Hall from
07-14 March 2008.
Mr. Nieves, who will turn 100 years old on 18 April 2008, is a 1933 Fine
Arts degree graduate of the UP College of Fine Arts -- whose faculty
members at that time included national artist Fernando Amorsolo and
painting great, Fabian dela Rosa.
