Ambassador Willy C. Gaa Congratulates Filipino American Pulitzer Winner Jose Antonio Vargas

14 April 2008 - Philippine
Ambassador Willy C. Gaa congratulated Washington Post staff writer Jose
Antonio Vargas for being the fourth Filipino or Filipino American to win
the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. Mr. Vargas won the Pulitzer Prize in the
breaking news category as part of a team that covered the Virginia Tech
massacre.
In his letter congratulating Mr. Vargas, Ambassador Gaa noted that the
young Filipino American now belongs to an elite group of Filipino and
Filipino American journalists who count among them the venerable Carlos
P. Romulo, former Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Secretary
General of the United Nations, and that his achievement would serve as a
role model for young Filipino American professionals.
